Joe Frketic
Pharmacy Leadership Award 2026, BC Pharmacy Association
Joe Frketic, the long-tenured Pharmacy Manager for the UVic Campus Pharmacy location, was awarded the Pharmacy Leadership Award for his outstanding commitment to student healthcare and clinical innovation on campus. Joining the Heart Pharmacy Group team in 2014, Frketic has tailored the pharmacy's clinical operations to match the unique, fast-paced health needs of the university community. Under his leadership, the UVic location accounts for nearly half of Heart Pharmacy Group's total volume for Minor Ailment and Contraception Prescribing (MACS).
Frketic has pioneered vital campus health initiatives, successfully advocating for student health plan coverage of the HPV vaccine, introducing rapid strep throat testing, and leading interdisciplinary continuing education sessions with physicians at the UVic Student Wellness Centre to streamline collaborative care.

Megan St. John
Murray Dykeman Mentorship Award 2024, BC Pharmacy Association
Megan St. John, Pharmacy Manager for the St. Anthony’s Clinic Pharmacy location in Langford, was awarded the Murray Dykeman Mentorship Award for her exceptional guidance and development of next-generation pharmacy professionals. Notably the youngest pharmacist in the 46-year history of Heart Pharmacy Group to ascend to a management role so soon after graduation, St. John was explicitly recognized by the BCPhA for designing and spearheading an innovative, company-wide graduate onboarding and mentorship program.
Her structured curriculum successfully reduced transition anxiety for new-to-practice pharmacists and established St. Anthony’s Clinic as a premier UBC pharmacy practicum site. Passionate about community health integration, St. John works closely with Westshore healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions and supportive mentorship networks for incoming clinical staff.

Andrea Silver
Excellence in Patient Care Award 2019, BC Pharmacy Association
Andrea Silver, Pharmacy Manager for the Shelbourne Plaza location, was awarded the Excellence in Patient Care Award for her dedication to community pharmacy. Silver developed the Heart@Home program which employs Comfort Keepers caregivers to oversee daily medication adherence, promoting a higher standard of living for elderly residents living at home.
As a Certified Diabetes Educator, Silver works closely with the extended care teams of diabetes patients to ensure exceptional care, partnering with the Victoria Diabetes Education Centre to provide education to patients, as well as their support networks.
Linda Gutenberg

Linda Gutenberg, Pharmacy Manager of Shelbourne Plaza Heart Pharmacy, is a pharmacist with 35 years experience at multiple levels of pharmacy practice, including community pharmacy in urban and rural settings, Head Office experience with a multi store owner of independent pharmacies, as well as a corporate chain, and experience working with the BC Pharmacy Association as a staff member.
Linda is a past BCPhA board member as well as Past President of the BC Pharmacy Association Board.

Lindsay Dixon
Ben Gant Innovative Practice Award 2021, BC Pharmacy Association
Lindsay Dixon is a Canadian Pharmacist who is passionate about empowering community members to better understand their health through easy to understand, science-based education that their doctors or other healthcare professionals may not have the time or thought to share.
Through the development and growth of her Friendly Pharmacy 5 YouTube channel, Dixon has shared important information on ranging from COVID-19 to herd immunity, mental health and how to improve your sleep.
With over 10 years experience in Community Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management, DIxon has seen the advantages and drawbacks of Healthcare Systems. She is very passionate about Preventative Medicine, Public Health Education, Healthcare Innovation, and Patient Advocacy.
