Natural & Organic Cosmetics

“Our customers are aware of where their cosmetics and skin care products come from, how they were produced and what ingredients were used. Over 60% of what you put on your skin is absorbed into the body so its important to know where and how these products are made,” said Adele Fraser, manager  at the Fairfield Plaza Heart Pharmacy location.  “They are also very interested to know the companies behind these products are socially responsible.”

“After consulting with an organic skin care and cosmetics expert we were able to bring in a really wonderful set of unique beauty and skin care lines,” said Fraser.

Featured in the makeover are skin care and cosmetics from:

Juice Beauty, from California, an organic skin care that offers clinically proven anti-aging benefits and a proven blemish remover that doesn’t use harsh chemicals.

Zuzu Luxe by Gabriel Cosmetics, a unique vegan cosmetics brand from Seattle, that combines sea based botanicals with herbs and vitamins to create beautiful colours that won’t irritate sensitive skin.

Each of the companies behind these products boasts enlightened manufacturing and corporate practices including cruelty free development, bio-dynamic harvesting methods, organic ingredients and a commitment to giving back to their communities.

“Naz has always been dedicated to making sure our pharmacies are socially responsible businesses that contribute to the community. When we started on this path, we wanted to focus on finding partners that would reflect similar values,” said Rasool Rayani, talking about his father Naz Rayani, who owns the five store locations. “By creating dedicated departments, we can take the guesswork out of the process for our customers. They can select any of these superior products and know that they are dealing with organizations that promote safe and sustainable products.”

“This transformation actually began at Cadboro Bay Pharmacy,” said Rayani. ”Lidia, our manager, started to bring in natural product lines in our skin care and personal care departments and they have resonated with the values and preferences of our customers. Based on that experience we wanted to take the idea to a whole new level.”

“You won’t find this combination or breadth of selection of organic lines anywhere in Victoria,” said Fraser. “While some lines like Juice Beauty and Jurlique are new to Victoria, others are well established. We have been carrying Weleda and Dr. Hauschka products in the past and are expanding our selection as part of this transformation.”

“The new setup looks wonderful and there are a lot of new and beautiful products to explore, ” said Lola Storry, a yoga instructor and practicing vegan. “It is nice to have a place where there is more than just a token selection of organic and cruelty free products. ”

The concept of carrying more advanced skin care options complements Heat's commitment to health and wellness. “As a pharmacy we try and cater to all aspects of an individual’s health, appearance and well-being. The organic beauty movement fits with our focus on individualized medicine and preventative health,” said Donovan Walters, the pharmacy manager at the Shelbourne plaza location. “Our customers have really enjoyed learning and experimenting with these new offerings.”
